How does SHS archiving work?

How does SHS archiving work?

To always have consistent tables in the SHS data space, reloading of the SHS data space is done using a work data space.

After the current data have been successfully loaded into the work data space, the work data space is activated by a switch.

After the switch the SHS archiving is started. In the first step all changes of the data space are logged.

This log includes information about which change actions (changed data, changed definition, table deleted, ...)  has resulted from the reloading, and for which table.hat.

In an optional second step all changed and newly loaded tables are saved in the archive database.

Thus, the current status of a table at a particular time can be queried.
