Changed RACF default behaviour since z/OS release 2.1

Explicit assignment of an OMVS segment

Since z/OS release 2.1 no default OMVS segment is assigned to a Resource Access Control Facility(RACF) Group.

As TABEX/4 needs an assigned OMVS segment for using the z/OS UNIX services, an OMVSsegment must be explicitly assigned for the following users:

  • For all TABEX users, if an identity change is executed and thus the session task is executedusing the TABEX user ID.
  • If no identity change is executed, for the ID of the running monitor

If no RACF OMVS segment is assigned for a user, the user cannot log into the TABEX/4 TableManager and the error message BRW665 is logged.
