How to setup user-specific favorite icons?

General

Many icon bars have to be opened via group icons or via the icon "more actions".

The parameter GRP_ICO_ON in the control table $TAB4PTC06(TABCTL) can be edited via the menu item Administration / application / general settings / edit system settings and can be used to specify which group icons are activated after login.

For faster access, favorite icons can be added to a "favorites bar". After configuration of the favorite icons, the bar is switched on/off by the icon "favorite icons on/off" or switched on by the system parameter GRP_ICO_ON ein- bzw. ausgeblendet.

The bar is being displayed in the second row. Favorite icons are queued at the left end of the icon bar.

System-wide registration

When registering in the system settings, the defined favorite icons are valid for all users and instances.

To do this, follow these steps:

Register FAVICO_TAB

The parameter FAVICO_TAB is inserted into the control table $TAB4PTC06(TABCTL). Its value is the ID of the table, which contains the favorite icons.

The system settings are edited under: administration / application/general settings/ edit system settings.

In the example above, the table FAV_SYS contains the favorite icons of the system.

The new parameter FAVICO_TAB and its value are active only after a re-login => Please perform a ReLogin.

Change icon favorites

Icons can be assigned to favorite icons at: administration / applicatuib/ general settings / change favorite icons.

The table, which was entered in the control table $TAB4PTC06(TABCTL) for the parameter FAVICO_TAB, is created (if not yet available or edited.

The right panel available icons shows all available icons, which are not yet selected as favorite icons. These can be moved to the left panel by clicking on the icon, the tool tip or the arrows.

The panel icon favorites includes all already selected icons.  In the field show? you can specify whether the icon is displayed (Y) or nicht not displayed (N).

In the example above, the icons display memory tables, save layout settings und delete saved layout settings were added.

The icon for display memory tables is hidden (show?=N).

Result of the example:

After a successfup save, the result of the example above loocks as follows (a re-login is not necessary):

The red framed icons are the new favorite icons. They no longer appear in the selection list "more actions".

Note: Also the entry display memory tables, which was hidden with show?=N is no longer displayed.

User specific registration

When registering the favorit icons in the user profile, the defined favorite icons apply only to the current user.

To do this, follow these steps:

Edit search path

In the control table $TAB4PTC21(TABCTL), the search path is entered, indicating whether the user settings or the system settings act first.

In the example above, first the user settings (U) are searched for the parameter FAVICO_TAB, then the system settings (S) are searched if nothing is configured for the user.

Enter FAVICO_TAB in the user profile

The parameter FAVICO_TAB is entered in settings / edit user profile.

The parameter value is the ID of the table, which contains the favorite icons for the current user.

In the example above the table FAV_BOI contains the favorite icons of the user BOI.

Change favorite icons

Icons can be assigned to favorite icons at: administration / application/ general settings / change icon favorites.

The table which was entered for the parameter FAVICO_TAB in the user profile is being processed.

When you first add an icon and save, the table in the database TABCTL is created if it does not yet exist.

In the example above, the icon Change between horizontal / vertical view is added.

Result of the example:

After a successful save, the result of the example above looks as follows (a re-login is not necessary):

The red framed icon is one of the new favorite icons.

Note:

If the entry FAVICO_TAB is deleted from the user profile, the system settings become active.

Consequently, the favorite icons of the system settings (table FAV_SYS in the examples above) are used.
