FreeDa Release 1.0.0

We are very pleased to announce the release of the first full version of FreeDa.

2 successful years of development of our new, intuitive maintenance system for the management of tables from relational databases have gone by astonishing quickly. We are very pleased to announce the first full version of FreeDa: Release 1.0.0!

FreeDa 1.0.0 is characterized by comprehensive, very user-friendly functionalities for data maintenance. Above all, they offer users with little or no database knowledge the opportunity to carry out the maintenance of sensitive data themselves.

The FreeDa data format allows you to maintain tables uniformly - regardless of operating system and source database. TABEX Databases can also be connected to the FreeDa System.

Elaborate FreeDa Maintenance Workflows bridge the gap between high-quality IT and ideal user-friendliness: SelfCheck for the 2-Eye-Principle and SingleCheck for the 4-Eye-Principle. In addition, FreeDa 1.0.0 offers the possibility to combine tables to packages and process them together.

With its high usability, FreeDa sets new standards in table management: Convenient table selection using the specially developed FreeDa TableNAVI, comprehensive editing functions in the web editor, table comparison, deep link, display of DML statements at the push of a button, import and export (CSV and Excel), and much more make FreeDa highly efficient and at the same time easy to understand.

For administrators, FreeDa 1.0.0 offers selected functionalities in the GUI, such as the web-based configuration of user/user groups, DB connection/table selection and the creation of jobs. Other admin functions are offered via control tables.

FreeDa 1.0.0 can be installed on Windows and Linux.

The publication of the 2nd release is planned for mid-2022. Our development over the next few months will focus on the audit security and logging of all table changes.

We have enhanced the TABEX4 Utilities.

We have added new features to the TABEX4 Utilities to make table management with TABEX4 even more user-friendly.

Utility TABN03: Search for table definitions

For table selection in the context of the TABN03 utilities, you now have the additional possibility to specify search criteria for table definitions. These possibilities can be very useful for takeover or conversion projects. For example, you can list all tables in a TABEX Database that contain at least one field with a specific field type, a specific field format, or a combination of these two.

New function parameters are available for this purpose:

  • SELFDGAP
  • SELFDOVL
  • SELKEYCF
  • SELFLDDF
  • SELKEYDF

You can use these parameters to define the following new search criteria:

  • Selection of tables containing field gaps
  • Selection of tables containing field overlaps
  • Selection of tables whose keys do not only consist of complete fields

You can find further details in BOIDOC-206, chapter 'TABN03 - Output operations', section 'Table selection'.

Utility TBVW01: Batch functions for the TABEX User management

The following new functions are now available for utility TBVW01:

  • UIDDEL to delete user IDs
  • UIDLIST to list user IDs
  • UIDNEW to create new user IDs
  • UIDPWCHECK to check passwords
  • UIDPWMOD to modify and reset passwords

SSL IDE 2.0.0.

We have ported the SSL IDE to a new base technology.

Version 2.0.0 now uses Eclipse e4 instead of Eclipse e3.

This allows us to continue the ensured compatibility of the SSL IDE with newer versions of Java later than JRE 8.

The individual health of our employees is an essential factor for a long-term successful, competitive company. Thus, we have started a project on workplace health promotion in spring 2020 to invest in the physical and mental health of the BOI team.

We are very pleased that the Austrian Health Insurance Fund (ÖGK) has awarded us the Quality Seal for Workplace Health Promotion for the years 2022 to 2024 for the first time.

BOI is now published on the BGF network database of quality control companies:

Reinforcement for our BOI Developer Team.

We are very happy to welcome Stefan Rausch as a new employee.

Stefan has been supporting us in the FreeDa frontend development since summer 2021. As a frontend and budding FullStack developer, he has become a valuable member of our FreeDa Team.

Through his diverse interests, he brings a holistic view of the essentials. In addition to his developer work, Stefan volunteers in the psycho-social support field and is also very talented in the literary field.

We are pleased that with Stefan such a versatile person enriches our team!

The power of the Sun at BOI.

With our new photovoltaic system, we are making a further important contribution to climate protection.

Protecting our earth and burdening it as little as possible is an obligation that affects all of us - because we live on her, from her, and with her.

We have therefore decided to invest in a photovoltaic system: In addition to the use of green electricity from hydropower, we can now also use the power of our life-giver sun in a climate-friendly and sustainable way.

Our plant consists of 36 modules in west-east orientation and has an output of 12.06 kWp.

The power of Nature at BOI.

We decided to cooperate with an apple orchard from Upper Austria in order to enable others to use a PV system.

In order to enable others to use a PV system, we have decided to cooperate with an apple farm from Upper Austria: We have contributed financially to the acquisition costs of a large PV system.

In return, we receive fruit and homemade juices to the value of our contribution, which we make available to our employees. In this way, we can promote the use of local food and at the same time, save on transport costs and CO2 generated by non-locally produced food.
