Especially during the cold season, a warm and safe place is anything but guaranteed. Having a roof over one’s head means protection, dignity, and often the first step toward rebuilding a stable life. That’s why BOI is supporting a special social initiative this year: We are donating a so-called DÜK (“Dach überm Kopf,” meaning “a roof over your head”) – a weatherproof shelter for people without housing.
The DÜK is a small, roughly 2×2-meter wooden structure with an 8-cm layer of thermal insulation. Inside, it is equipped with a folding bench, a small storage shelf, a fire extinguisher, and a first-aid kit – everything needed to find safety and protection during freezing nights.
The project was developed and built by the Kolping Family Linz together with students from HTL 1 für Bau und Design in Linz. The social organization B37 of the City of Linz is responsible for selecting and supporting the people who will use the shelter, ensuring it reaches those who need it most.
With this donation, we want to not only provide short-term shelter, but also send a message of hope. Because sometimes a small roof can make a big difference.
